Nontraditional careers are defined as career options that less than 20% of the general population participates. These careers for females and women are typically in the STEM and trade areas such as the construction trades, the automotive trades, advanced manufacturing, etc. For male populations these fields tend to be in the human and health service areas. There are other underrepresented populations, those with language and economic barriers who would benefit by a career pathway associated with the middle skills and the high wage, high skill and high demand 21st century career opportunities.
